Formed in 2002 in Jura, Switzerland by Jean-Vincent France-Soir and Paul Arbear, dashing little mounts wild as the Far West, this blazing electro duo quickly became famous for its eclectic musical approach. Starting off as a slow trot 100% rock star attitude, their first auto produced release (2004), they played a number of shows that allowed them to make a name for themselves all the way to Bern, the Swiss capital. Guests during the Contemporary Culture Convention IV in 2004, at the Reitschule (predestined place as a former equestrian school) in the middle of a troop of Swiss artists, they make the audience neigh. The paddock opened wide for our two poneys who go taste the wild grass of the Swiss electro scene proposed by Overdose, Areyouveda or Cycle Opérant, excellent Swiss stables. Wild and without blinders Jean-Vincent France-Soir and Paul Arbear then drink an intoxicating flood of funk, hip-hop, ambient, rock or punk music in order to develop a very personal step. A nourishing period for the little poneys that leave many little dungs on several compilation records: Princess Tarta (RIP), Alpinechic and Everestrecords.
In 2006 they meet Julien Fehlmann a strict trainer with a fine ear and a beautiful recording studio. The contact quickly becomes complementary and intimate between the man and the animals. They caress each other’s rumps, lick each other’s nostrils, tangle each other’s manes and with a grand whinnying of joy, Clap Clap will be released in 2008. A promising trot on which the illustrious SNAX participated.
Jean-Vincent’s pedigree
Jean-Vincent France-Soir was born in Jura, Switzerland in 1980. A cross between a hippie and a blue flower, he emigrated to Canada at an early age in the hopes of playing the net in the Quebecois series Lance et compte. Little enough but not fat enough, he was refused the role by the mean producers. After his return to Switzerland Jean John falls into a dark spiral of flutes, saxophones, joints, brass bands, trance and goa music. When he finally pulled himself together he found himself holding onto his vinyls, and playing his synthesizer all alone in a frenzy until one day he meets Paul Arbear and decides to embrace the rock star he had become. Not only a rock star, but a refined man who likes contemporary art, photography, design and old Audi.
Paul Arbear’s pedigree
Paul Arbear was born in Jura, Switzerland in 1981. In other words, he is young. Autistic from a very young age, he discovers and loves Judas Priest (yes, it is true!) and grabs ahold of his first guitar. The harm is done. He discovers an affinity to detestable rock, electronic and industrial groups and founded several rock, harcore and noisy pop bands including (the best one) which survives even today: The Dining Dead. He is blond, in love and owns a long paintbrush. Not only a rock star, but a refined man who likes culininary art, photography, design and old Audi.
